HOW INTERESTING!

Only young sunflowers follow the sun all day long, from East to West.
Old sunflowers look at East.

There is a galaxy called the Sunflower Galaxy.

SUNFLOWER SEEDS

We get sunflower seeds from sunflowers.
Yummy!

SUNFLOWER OIL

We make sunflower oil from sunflower seeds. We use it as a frying oil. It has got vitamin E.

Sunflower oil is an ingredient in sunflower butter.

In cosmetics, it has got smoothing properties.

Sunflower oil can be used to run diesel engines when mixed with diesel in the tank.
Sunflower oil is also a great source of biodiesel.

VAN GOGH AND THE SUNFLOWERS

Vincent Willem van Gogh was a Post-Impresionist painter. He was born in Netherlands in 1853 and he died in 1890 (aged 37).

Sunflowers are the subject of two series of his paintings. Look!

You can see this picture in the National Gallery, in London.

This picture is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York.

And this one is in the Philadelphia Museum of Art (USA).
